Anwar Observes Construction of Cipayung Reservoir

East Jakarta Mayor, Muhammad Anwar and his staff inspected the construction of the Cipayung Reservoir on Jalan Raya Tangki, Tuesday (8/8).

The work progress has touched 80 percent

According to him, the reservoir construction on land owned by Jakarta Parks and City Forest Agency was to overcome inundation in the surrounding area. In fact, even though the reservoir is not 100 percent complete, it can handle inundation in residential areas when it rains heavily.

"Thank God. According to residents, since the reservoir was built, there have been no more puddles. So,we can see the benefits," he expressed.

Anwar: Don't Put Campaign Props on Trees

This reservoir is also for community interaction. They can exercise while hanging out and socializing in the reservoir area.

He mentioned the Cipayung Reservoir had to be built with a minimum depth of five meters, until the springs came out. Thus, during the dry season, it will not cause odor and pollute the environment.

"It is targeted to be completed in three months ahead. Thus, locals can enjoy it maximally," he explained.

RW 03 Cipayung Chairman, Ahmad Sitem said the reservoir was already able to handle inundation in his area, especially in the residential areas of RT 09, 04, 02, and 10.

"Thank you because the benefits of this reservoir are very much for us as locals," he admitted.

East Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency's Maintenance Division Head, Puryanto added the reservoir has an area of 4,288.29 square meters. Currently, the average progress of land dredging is only around 2.8 meters.

"The work progress has touched 80 percent and excavation is still underway to reach five meters deep," he concluded.
